I'm Dr Afzal Sohaib, one of London's leading cardiologists with a specialist focus on heart rhythm disorders. As an electrophysiologist, I've dedicated my career to understanding and correcting the electrical faults that cause supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), atrial fibrillation (AF), and other complex arrhythmias.

What's the Difference Between a Cardiologist and an Electrophysiologist?
All electrophysiologists are cardiologists but not all cardiologists are electrophysiologists.
A cardiologist is a heart doctor. An electrophysiologist is a heart rhythm specialist with advanced training in diagnosing and treating electrical problems of the heart. Think of it like the difference between a general electrician and a specialist who rewires your circuit board.
